Career & College Professional Development & Mentorship
“Working with Jess during our TRIO team’s four-week professional development series was a game-changer. What made this training stand out was its relevance. Jess didn’t just talk about the theory behind successful college counseling; she broke it down into usable tools and real-world strategies that work for students who are navigating complex barriers, both seen and unseen. Jess helped our team think more critically about how we support students with limited resources, how to bridge the gap between aspirations and access, and how to address the hidden rules of the college-going process, specifically for selective colleges. Each session made us stronger as a team and more effective in walking alongside our students and families as they take their next steps toward college. If you want someone who truly understands students from low-income and first-generation backgrounds and who can equip your team to make a real difference with low-to-no-cost strategies, Jess is the person to call! Her mentorship and guidance are truly an invaluable resource.”
— Shelby Burroughs Pryzgoda, Director of TRiO Upward Bound at Colorado Mesa University

What People Are Saying *
“Jessica is an outstanding partner whose expertise elevates every program she touches. She has a way of looking at counseling programs that quickly uncovers both the strengths to celebrate and the areas that need attention. Jessica doesn’t just evaluate; she listens, she connects, and she offers creative solutions that actually work for schools and students. Her experience across education and counseling shines through in the recommendations she makes, and every idea she shares feels doable and impactful. Any counseling department would be fortunate to have her guidance.”
— Andy Bristol, Director of Curriculum & Post-Secondary Education, District 2 Harrison Schools
“When I stepped into the role of Director of College Counseling at Animas High School, Jessica had left big shoes to fill. She had built an amazing foundation for an exemplary career and college counseling program. She left me with a comprehensive guide to follow as I transitioned into my new role, which helped ensure continuity of services for our students despite having a brand-new counselor. She made herself available to me when I had questions and was helpful in her advice and perspective when I reached out.”
— Erin Cummins-Roper, Dean of Career & College Counseling, Animas High School
Our Services
Organization PD Trainings
Professional Development trainings are customized to the individual needs of the organization. I begin with a one-on-one meeting to identify areas of need and support for any career and college advising services required by middle school and high school students. PD trainings are then developed and reviewed with input from the organization, and regular follow-up meetings are held to refine and adjust any content as needed. Topics include, but are not limited to: skill aptitude exploration, career exploration, high-selective collegiate admission processes, financial aid, whole-student advising, work-based learning, industry certifications, course selection, and family engagement.
Career & College Review & Support
Drawing on my experience in building a state-recognized career and college counseling department in Colorado, I support school districts in reviewing their current program structures for career and college advising. I provide an internal report and recommendations to strengthen existing programs and develop new, relevant content for student engagement. Program reviews are conducted through a whole-team approach, focusing on community engagement, support for educators, and resources for the department. This process is uniquely designed for the individual desires and needs of the school district and provides the opportunity for departments to gain a new perspective on relevant approaches to whole student advising, focusing on both career and college engagment.
Individual & Team Mentorship
It can be overwhelming for a new counselor when it comes to career and college advising. I support new counselors and teams with mentorship through one-on-one meetings, coaching plans, and targeted resources, providing tailored support to meet specific needs. Mentorship plans start with a 3-month cycle and are customized to the unique needs of the counselor, department, and school district. This service even provides the ability to create and engage in professional learning communities across high schools and school districts if desired.
